HONORING THE PAST. EMPOWERING THE PRESENT

HONORING THE PAST. EMPOWERING THE PRESENT

Long before barbershops were simply places for a haircut, they were places of opportunity and survival. In the 18th and 19th centuries, barbering was one of the few skilled trades available to Black men. It offered independence when freedom was limited and dignity when it was denied. Through trust, precision, and reputation, barbers built businesses, supported families, and quietly created pathways forward.

As segregation took hold, the barbershop evolved into something sacred. It became a safe space — a place where men could speak freely, share stories, debate ideas, and pass down wisdom. News traveled chair to chair. Culture was shaped. Confidence was restored. The chair became more than a seat; it became a place of trust.
During the civil rights era and beyond, barbershops stood as anchors in the community — spaces of protection, connection, and resilience. They were places where leadership formed, unity strengthened, and identity was affirmed.

That history lives in our logo.
The lion represents strength, leadership, and protection — the same qualities barbers have carried for generations. The crown symbolizes royalty reclaimed, honoring a legacy that was always present, even when it went unrecognized. The chair reflects trust — the bond between barber and client, where care, craft, and conversation meet. And the paw raised as a fist stands for resilience and unity — a reminder that progress is built together, through perseverance and pride.

Welcome to The Lions Den, where style meets precision. I’m Ivan, a master barber with over a decade of experience, blending sharp cuts with expert care since 2013. As a seasoned loctician and braider, I specialize in clean fades, fresh styles, and healthy, head-turning locs. Whether you’re here for a cut, a retwist, or a bold new look, you’re in the right place ~ where kings are groomed.

I’m Chris. I’ve been in the game for 5 years and cutting hair is what I love. There’s nothing like seeing someone leave the chair feeling confident and sharp. I’m always down to meet new people and show love to the community. The Lions Den is a Black-owned shop with a dope vibe where we hook up all hair types. Pull up and let’s get you looking fresh.

I’m Elias, Native-born, Reno-raised, and shaped by real life. I picked up the clippers early, and what started as a way to stay sharp became a craft built on discipline, respect, and pride. Outside the chair, I’m an outdoorsman at heart — always moving, always exploring. Travel keeps me grounded, my roots keep me focused, and I bring that same energy into every cut. Let me crown you!

I’m LeSicca — shaped by service, driven by purpose, and grounded in loyalty. I’ve been behind the chair for six months, inspired by my four-year-old daughter, who’s my why and my fire. I served in the Army, and that foundation of discipline, respect, and grit shows up in everything I do. Adventurous by nature and anchored by family and fr
